2010 Programs

April 15 - Keven  McQueen, Adjunct Professor of English at EKU, “Myths About Cassius M. Clay” 6:30 at White Hall State Historic Site. Dessert will be served.

June 17 - Will Updike, Graduate Student in the Historic Preservation program of the U. K. College of Design, “Locations of Distinction: National Register of Historic Properties in Madison County” 6:30 at the Community Room of Central Bank on Main Street in Richmond.  Dessert will be served.

August 7 - David Greene, local historian, “Madison County History Through the Eyes of David Greene.”   Annual picnic at 6:30 at the Cane Springs Baptist Church.

October 14 - Rachel Kennedy, Senior Architectural Historian for the Kentucky Archaeological Survey, “Little Known History: Rural African American Settlements in Madison and Garrad Counties.”  6:30 at the Community Room of Central Bank on Main Street in Richmond.  Dessert will be served.

The Madison County Historical Society donated a plaque for the Daniel Boone Statue, which rests on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University, commemorating Daniel Boone’s historical significance to Madison County.  EKU President Doug Whitlock accepted the plaque on behalf of the University.  It was presented by Dr. Charles Hay on behalf of the Historical Society.  The event was held at the statue in front of the Keene Johnson Building on November 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.  Dr. Skip Daugherty, Coordinator of University Events, guided the activities.
